Famous Couples: Bowie & Iman Book Design

The Famous Couples: Bowie & Iman book cover was part of a fictitious project that called for a Penguin Books style cover and icon to represent, Bowie & Iman, for their “Famous Couples” books series. This required the creation of an abstract mark to represent the couple, as well as a front cover, back cover, and spine to complement it.

With my icon, I chose to focus on the privacy between the couple which greatly contrasted their very public, glamorous, career paths; I did this through representing the eyes of both Iman & Bowie, creating the petals of a flower, while coming together, at the stem, which mimics the shape of a closed eye, thus representing their privacy as a couple.
